historic core of the castle

A Pobra do Caramiñal would be incomprehensible, both historically and geographically, without the Castle. The name itself reveals that a fortification once stood here, belonging to the Dean of Santiago, a central figure in the town.
The Irmandiña revolts destroyed it in 1467, but its name and importance have remained throughout the centuries, and today it continues to define this classic lung of the town. Its cobbled streets are home to tourist attractions such as the Church of Santiago do Deán, the Casa Grande de Aguiar, the Pazo do Couto, and the Castelo Park. These icons are joined by restored traditional houses and an 18th-century cross to form a unique historical complex.
