The Roman road of Vitres

Calzada romana de Vitres
The Roman road of Vitres is the setting for one of the most attractive routes in Boiro and Barbanza Arousa, which leads to Vitres Castle, following the ancient route through centuries of history. Despite being a highly demanding trail due to its steep slopes, the 14.5-kilometer route is truly marvelous.
The views of the entire region and the Arousa Estuary are unique. This route is well signposted, especially at its beginning. Upon exploring it, you'll find up to three different waterfalls: La Fervenza Fonte de San Pas, in an area with two small mills; La Fervenza de Lapeal, halfway through the route, in the village of Enseño, with a bathing area; and Rego das Fervenzas, at the end. There are various theories about the Roman origin of the route, even others that place its beginning in the medieval period. The best way to get to know it is to walk it.
