This will enhance destination perception, enrich the visitor experience, and improve the quality of life for local residents.

They commit to carrying out the necessary actions to achieve goals that help the destination grow sustainably, following the criteria set by Segittur for Smart Tourism Destinations (DTI).

GOVERNANCE: Public-private collaboration, strengthening strategic alliances among local stakeholders, creating synergies and collaboration across sectors, and coordinating regional policies and projects must form the foundation of sustainable growth for Barbanza Arousa. To this end, the following actions will be carried out:

• Promoting tourism quality and increasing professionalism within the sector through training plans tailored to SMEs in Barbanza Arousa, alongside their commitment to participate.
• Training and coordination plan for HR staff delivering visitor services (tourist offices, interpretation centers, museums...).
• Developing actions aimed at reducing seasonality and increasing overnight stays. Encouraging local consumption and inter-business collaboration across subsectors (accommodation, dining, activities...), reinforcing synergies and sales channels.
• Energizing the associative network to strengthen business integration, achieving the critical mass needed for joint projects, acting as a channel for sharing best practices, and actively participating in the destination management body.

INNOVATION-TECHNOLOGY: Technology and innovation are key drivers for introducing solutions across the tourism system to improve existing services, create new offerings, and increase operational efficiency. This spans information, promotion, and marketing to environmental management, incident response, visitor experience enhancement, internal management processes, and organizational practices—all conducted systematically, quantitatively, and measurably. The following actions will be implemented:

• Developing a systematic, planned innovation strategy featuring innovative data and customer management systems, while advancing technology initiatives in tourism. Implementing the Tourism Intelligence System.
• Improving the Wi-Fi network and public information regarding its availability.
• Applying technology to enhance tourism analytics and market insights.
• Encouraging digital transformation within the sector and digitizing local tourism resources and products.

SUSTAINABILITY: Promoting inclusive and sustainable development is essential. Well-managed tourism plays a vital role in preserving current treasures for future generations while safeguarding our shared tangible and intangible heritage:

• Maintenance, cleaning, and quality assurance of tourist resources, along with the enhancement of new assets.
• Improvements in the management and conservation of cultural and artistic heritage.
• Regulating carrying capacity and visitor flow in sensitive natural areas.
• Improving sustainable mobility across the destination.
• Investment and training toward modernizing and professionalizing local tourism businesses.

ACCESSIBILITY: Tourism can be a powerful engine for community progress and inequality reduction when it actively involves residents and key local players. Both physical environments and services must be adapted to guarantee access for everyone, addressing an aging population and serving functional diversity needs. We commit to the following actions:

• Improving accessibility across routes, transportation, and facilities under a comprehensive universal accessibility approach, offering accessible tourism services.
• Enhancing accessibility standards across tourism promotional websites.

Its location, in the heart of the Galician Atlantic coast, combined with good transport infrastructure, makes the destination easily accessible. The fertile Ría de Arousa, which bathes these four municipalities, is internationally renowned for the outstanding quality of seafood and produce that defines its gastronomy.

Complemented by well-preserved natural heritage, it offers all kinds of outdoor activities in unique, wild landscapes such as the Corrubedo Sand Dunes and Carregal and Vixán Lagoons Natural Park, along with a wide array of beaches and hiking routes.

Thanks to an extensive network of cultural, ethnographic, and historical tourism resources, it provides a versatile, year-round offering suitable for all audiences.
